Hello, I'm Yana Knight
I’m an artist, a moose on the loose, and a maker of comics, cartoons, zines, graphic novels, paintings, imaginary friends and countries..
I work with visual storytelling, humour, and playful invention to explore how humans might relate to other species, environments, and worlds, both real and imagined.
And I help others do the same.
My practice is rooted in the extraordinary experience of being alive, and in following curiosity wherever it wanders, often into forests, absurd situations, and speculative encounters with moose and other beings. Through comics, performance, invented rituals, and storytelling, I use play as a way of listening, relating, and world-making. Moose appear as companions, absences, and sometimes as costumes, helping me think about how to be with the world differently.
My work has grown through many journeys, transitions, and chance encounters, and has led me to Stockholm, Sweden. Here, I’m currently playing with creative technologies at Stockholm University, experimenting with how tools, stories, and non-human intelligences can invite even more moose and other unexpected characters into my practice, my imagination, and my stories.
